DIY Dinosaur Mural for Kids Room

I have two boys ages 3 and 6 and they currently share a bedroom since we have a bunk-bed so after buying our house I was looking around for ideas of ways to make their room more fun! You can buy large stickers and things to go on the wall but since I’m more of the crafty type I figured why not paint them something? Since my kids love dinosaurs I found some really cute ideas on Pinterest and went at it! It took me a full week to complete it, I painted about 2 hours a night.

First I started with the background, the walls were already blue was so that made it easier when it came to blending out the sunset colors to blue sky at the top. The paints I used you can buy for less than a $1 at your local big box store. Here we are 3 years later and the paint still looks brand new so don't stress about buying high priced wall paint.

I then started painting the rocks and ground the dinosaurs would stand on using black and gray paint.

Since my kids have tons of dinosaur toys I found 3 that I wanted to paint on the wall. I used the dinosaur toys to look at as I painted them so I could be sure to capture all the detail! (Yes I literally stood in there holding a little dinosaur toy as I painted LOL - but hey, whatever works!)

I realized half way through I sort of goofed on the scale of my dinosaurs in comparison to the smaller trees on the ground but this doesn’t have to be perfect so don’t worry about silly things like that (your kids will LOVE it either way trust me) I’m just a perfectionist when it comes to my artwork!

I knew when I seen this quote “Let the world hear your roar!” it would be perfect! I painted it right above the window.

This is the finished product!
